Excel restructures sales team in overseas target plans

With
the aim to enhance its reach in Europe and North
America, Excel London is
to restructure its sales team.

The
overseas market currently makes up around 25 percent of the venue’s conference
and events business and the restructure is hoped to increase this share ahead of
the official opening of the International Convention Centre London Excel in
June. To date, over £6m worth of confirmed events business has been announced for the new
facility.

In the
restructure, Samantha Shamkh has been promoted to head of conventions, Andrew
Swanston becomes senior account
manager for associations and public sector and Tom Crocker to account manager.

“The
team at Excel has proved an integral part of our sales operations to date and
the restructure plans that we have put in place, will ensure that we can
continue and build on that success in an overseas market,” says director of
conferences and events, James
Rees.
