Events supplier receives business advice on Five show

Warwickshire events supplier, Zap Events, will feature in the first
episode of a new television series aimed at helping small
businesses.

Hosted by businesswoman Hilary
Devey, The Business Inspector
will appear on Five in
the vein of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen
Nightmares
.
Gary Martin, owner of Zap Events, told CN: “They were only getting together half
an hour of footage, but it took two and a half weeks. It has been great for us
though.

“She said we have a really good
product, so to focus on it. The key is to be known for one particular thing that
you do really well,” he added.

Show
host self-made millionaire Devey says: “The
problem was he was holding far too much stock and too little capital. He was able to sell some of
the stock and turn it into capital to invest, so he could put it back into his
company and grow his business.”

Devey’s advice to small business
owners, especially events suppliers, is cut the fat, turn it into capital and
reinvest it. This will grow your company while focusing on its strongest
points. She added that
keeping your records straight and your accounting clear are two of the biggest
tips to give to any budding business.
