David McDonnell to chair ACC Liverpool

Liverpool businessman David
McDonnell, CBE, has been appointed as the new chair of council-owned Arena and
Convention Centre Liverpool Ltd.

McDonnell is High
Sheriff of Merseyside and the retired CEO of Grant Thornton International. He
previously chaired the Merseyside Society for Deaf People, National Museums
Liverpool and is President of the Council of the University of
Liverpool.

“Although my work has
been based in London for more than 20 years, I
have continued to live in Liverpool and have
always strived to play a part in the local community,” says
McDonnell.

“Since ACC Liverpool
opened its doors, it has played a vital role in the regeneration of the city and
provided a huge boost to the economy and I will be looking to support and advise
on its continued success.”

ACC Liverpool chief
executive Bob Prattey welcomed the appointment: “David’s wealth of experience
and strong professional credentials alongside his clear commitment to and
understanding of the city of Liverpool are a welcome addition to our
board.”
