New Leeds Met course to serve city’s £562m events spend

The UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan
University launches a new
course next month.

Creating and Managing Events, was designed
to support the local industry by offering the skills and knowledge to make the
most out of festivals and events in the region.

The course will be
delivered in six two-day intensive workshops and will cover all aspects of
events management including risk assessments, personal licence training and
creative production. Yorkshire-based companies can claim a 60 per cent
discount.

The launch of the new course follows the
announcement by Yorkshire Forward that events in Leeds attract more than four
million delegates each year, with a collective spend of £562m.

Head of the UK Centre for Events
Management, Glenn Bowdin says that with more than four million delegates
visiting Leeds annually, as well as thousands
of festival attendees, “we are sure that more individuals and organisations
could be capitalising on the sector. We hope our new Certificate in Creating
& Managing Events will help to enhance the competitiveness of businesses in
the region and strengthen our events economy even further”.

The UK Centre for Events Management at
Leeds Met is the largest centre in the world dedicated to events
management.
