ICCA’s lobbying winter debate

The International Congress and Convention
Association’s Winter Debate 2010 is to be on harnessing the power of lobbying
partnerships.

‘Playing Politics – The Power of Partnerships
and Legacies’ will take place at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead between 15 and
16 February.

Topics covered will include government
lobbying at local and national level, the role of agencies currently engaged in
lobbying, a knowledge of resources available for organisations, as well as
examples of best practice and lessons from unsuccessful bidding. Advice on
preparing for a change in government will also be
covered.

James Rees, chair of ICCA UK and
Ireland Chapter says: “Political lobbying can have a substantial impact on
delivering events business and this is an area where ICCA members have
specifically asked for guidance on where to start.

“The event will better prepare delegates and
help them to develop their own strategic partnerships and put together a
lobbying toolkit that helps to maximise the opportunities and legacies that
events can provide.”
