Venue and organisers embrace new registration solution

Event
organiser Quartz Business Media and the Thai venue BITEC have picked up a
do-it-yourself registration package from World Registration Systems
(WRS).

WRS’s Regibox solution was developed
to overcome registration and onsite
costs for events of around 1,500 attendees; one of the highest capital outlays
associated with running such events.

Quartz, the company that bought the
majority of DMG World Media’s UK events business in August, has
signed a deal to use WRS’s Regibox for its smaller exhibitions, such as North
African Coatings Congress, and Oils and Fats
Turkey.

The Bangkok International Trade and
Exhibition Centre (BITEC) has also purchased the solution in a move hoped to
extend its in-house capabilities for smaller
events.

“We have already had enquiries from
the likes of UBM and Reed, both internationally and from within the
UK,” says WRS MD Julian Temple,
adding that he is currently in talks with a number of PCOs. “It’s more
cost-effective for conferences and smaller exhibitions than engaging a full
service registration company.”

Temple says WRS
originally developed the package in response to demand from clients running
conferences or exhibitions where the size of the event does not warrant the cost
associated with outsourcing for registration services.
