Newly-formed CCCG supports flood victims

Members of the
newly-formed Carlisle and Cumbria
Conference Group (CCCG), tasked with building business tourism and the
conference market in Cumbria, have pledged to donate a
proportion of this month’s booking revenues to help flood victims.

Director of sales and
marketing at Langdale Estate, Dan Visser, has launched an initiative under which
he will donate £3 per delegate for every conference booking at the hotel and spa
that is confirmed during December.

The chair of the CCCG and
MD of Carlisle Racecourse, John Baker, has called for a better understanding of
the impact of the November floods in parts of the county. “While the floods,
particularly in Cockermouth and Keswick, have caused tragic loss of life, a
great deal of damage and distress for those affected, the actual businesses that
have been affected are in a localised area and are being offered support from a
variety of agencies.”

Conference officer at the
CCCG, Stephen Carruthers, says: “I am unaware of any conference or event
business that has been lost to our members or venues as a result of the
floods.”
