BVEP to review its role

Key industry lobby group The Business Visits and Events
Partnership is marking its 10th anniversary with a review of its industry role
and a new communications drive. The organisation says it will consult more
widely with its member base and the wider market.

The partnership holds a unique position in supporting
and lobbying the interests of business visits and events in Britain, but has sometimes struggled
to market itself, despite a membership that includes VisitBritain, VisitScotland
and the Hotel Booking Agents Association.

BVEP chairman Michael Hirst, OBE, says: “As the
UK events industry continues to
establish itself as a major economic and social driver, we as a supporting body
need to position ourselves to encourage and champion the industry in a way that
is relevant to today’s market.”

BVEP has also appointed former BACD chief executive Tony
Rogers to compile an industry-wide report covering all sectors of the UK
events industry.
