Are you local?

A Kent-based conference and events
venue is stepping up its credentials as an eco-friendly venue by announcing a
deal with a local English wine producer.

The Pines Calyx venue near
Dover has teamed
up with Tenterden-based Chapel Down Winery to supply wines for future
conferences, weddings and events.

“Chapel Down Winery supports local
farmers and businesses as much as possible, so it seemed the obvious choice,”
says general manager of The Pines Calyx, Louise Kjaertinge. “There’s been an
increase in delegates and event-bookers asking for Kent-produced food and drink
to be served here, so we decided to find partners with similar green
ethics.”

“We already have quite a few local
preferred suppliers, including a butcher that uses local herds and a natural
spring water provider. We’re also going to be involved in the development of a
community farm within the village and next year we plan to extend the amount of
land available for food production in the Pines garden itself,” says
Kjaertinge.
