City of love affordable to UK planners

The French
Convention Bureau (FCB), part of ATOUT France, has launched an Affordable
France for Business online concept, aimed at the UK meetings and conference market.

Offering ‘last
minute’ deals on hotels, day delegate rates and incentive packages, is organised into incentive, conference and meeting categories. Deals will be renewed monthly
and booked online via the featured partners including hotels and convention
centres, local tourist boards and convention bureaus, transport companies and

According to authorities,
business tourism in France’s
capital is growing. In 2008, the fairs, trade shows, congresses and corporate
events sector generated €4.8billion and accounted for 58,000 jobs in the
region. With 11.3 million visitors a year, business tourism makes a
significant contribution to the economy of the city and its region, and this
has not escaped the attention of the public authorities, which are working hard
with the sector’s principal players to enhance the region’s attractiveness.

Future plans for new
meeting and event venues, such as
the Airapolis and Coeur d’Orly, will also help to draw business to the region,
and an additional 7,000 hotel rooms by 2020 will cement
