The four-day annual
Conservative Party conference, which opened 5 October at Manchester Central, is
expected to generate £16 million economic benefit for the Manchester region.
head of marketing, Sharon Leeson, acknowledges big political conferences bring huge benefits to the region.
“All of the work and recent investment that
has gone in to our facilities
is really starting to pay dividends,” she says. “It is only by having a
world-class venue that we can welcome conferences as significant as this.”
She tells conference-news that the conference is well under way “and there is
a wonderfully bustling atmosphere throughout the Manchester Central site.
Although the venue is extremely busy everything is running smoothly, which is a
result of months of thorough planning and preparation. We are looking
forward to an exciting and successful conference.”
Manchester recently clinched
the Labour Party’s annual conferences for 2012 and 2014.
