Park Plaza provides heavyweight menu

Park
Plaza Riverbank London has gained a few extra pounds by becoming the official
meal provider to a British heavyweight boxer.

David
Haye, who is due to fight 7ft 2in Russian Nikolav Valuev on 7 November, is
tucking into meals consisting of chicken, prime steak, fish, rice, vegetables
and fruit, all prepared by the hotel’s executive chef and kitchen staff.

“The
meals from Park Plaza Riverbank London are helping keep me fit and complement
my training programme,” says Haye, who is 11in shorter than the Russian.

Park
Plaza Riverbank London’s executive chef, Sean Melville, has been assigned to
prepare the meals.

“Eating
correctly is absolutely vital for world-class athletes,” says Melville. “With
such a high protein diet, its important athletes don’t get bored by their food,
so we try to mix up ingredients to keep it interesting. Hopefully the meals we
prepare will help David knockout the giant Valuev.”

Haye’s
trainer, 5ft 11in Adam Booth, has taken to wearing 7in gothic boots to help
Haye acclimatise to the height difference he’ll suffer in November. “It’s quite
amusing when he wears stockings and suspenders with them!” laughed Haye at a
recent press conference.
