Notts CB bullies off new hockey business

The Nottinghamshire Convention Bureau has
won a major new contract as part of the 2010 Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy.

The Bureau, which is the business tourism
arm of Experience Nottinghamshire, will provide team accommodation and
conferencing facilities for the event in July 2010.

Nottingham is the first UK city to host
the Champions Trophy, one of the leading tournaments in women’s hockey, which
sees the top six teams in the world compete next year at Highfields Hockey
Club.

“This contract is a great boost for the
local economy,” says conference tourism co-ordinator at the NCB, Andy Melton.
“We’ll be accommodating around 150 players, coaches and physiotherapists at
hotels across the city. On top of that, we also have the officials, VIP’s and
sporting media, not to mention the thousands of hockey fans expected to travel
to Nottingham to support their team.”

Two conferences are part and parcel of the
tournament, to take place at the Days Hotel in the city centre.
