No shocks at BIC

The Bournemouth International Centre
has become the latest venue to aid exhibition and conference organisers moving
into 2010.

According to the coastal venue, as
the cost of energy has increased over the past few years, it’s decided to freeze
its electrical mains tariff, rather than pass the costs onto
clients.

“While the industry and country as a
whole are talking about the green shoots of recovery, we know every little helps
and can make a difference to our clients and the financial success of their
events,” says head of exhibitions and conferences, Clive
Tyers.

The price freeze is also part of the
BIC’s wider sustainability programme. Green initiatives like switching off the
heating and hot water system over the summer, has aided the BIC securing a 13
per cent reduction in electricity usage over the past 12
months.
