Leeds Uni Storms ahead

  • £27.1m accommodation and
    £12.2m fitness projects underway

The University of Leeds
is to name its new £27.1 million campus accommodation the Storm Jameson Court after former student
and author Margaret Storm Jameson.

The accommodation will be open to
conference delegates from June 2011, offering 459 bedrooms. It will be “the
benchmark” by which university campus accommodation for conference delegates is
measured, believes the university’s head of sales and marketing Richard
Handscombe.

“It is,” he says, “set to rival anything in
British higher education and will be a welcome addition to our family of
excellent accommodation and venues both in the city centre and more rural
locations, helping to move us into the premier division of UK conference
venues.”

“We’re already taking bookings so it’s
great that we can now put a name to this fabulous new building.”

Delegates
visiting the University
of Leeds, from summer
2010, will also gain access to a new £12.2m swimming pool and fitness complex being
built on the campus.
