Birmingham becomes music Mecca

Two musical events in
Birmingham set
new attendance records this month.

At the NEC, DJ exhibition
BPM saw visitor numbers increase by 50 per cent on last year, with 3,987
professional and amateur DJs visiting from all over Europe. The
show was making
its debut at the NEC, having previously been held at Donnington Park.

“Making the move to the
NEC was a big step for BPM, but it’s ultimately proved to be the right decision,” says director,
Eddie Short. “We received positive feedback from the visitors and our speakers
and we are extending the show by another day in
2010.”

And, over at the LG
Arena, US punk rockers
Green Day helped set an attendance record over the 27 and 28 October by selling
out 15,000 capacities each
night.

“To be able to report
such news within weeks of the newly developed Arena opening is brilliant,” says
director, Phil Mead.
