Going back to the supplier Grass Roots

The Meetings, Events and Communications Division of the Grass Roots agency is to
complete a Supplier Approval request for proposal by the end of the year,
designed to streamline its supplier database and consolidate hotel and venue sourcing.

The
agency has asked over 70 hotel groups and venues to send in information on a
range of issues including pricing policy, staff expertise and training,
service levels, account management and crisis management. The agency says it is
also keen to compare suppliers’ attitudes health and safety, software
integration, corporate responsibility and innovation.

Grass Roots’ new group supplier relations manager, Alan Newton, says the
aim is to improve the supply chain and promises to “continue to negotiate
improved pricing and commercial terms without compromising quality or service“.

The RFP process will involve a range of venues in the UK and internationally.

Newton says the
intention is to achieve a shortlist of the best in each venue category, to help
promote excellence and deliver “perfect execution every time for clients”.

Newton says the project “combined with an updated IT platform, will enable
us to begin embedding the new, more robust procurement process throughout the
company, starting in the UK then Continental Europe, APAC and the Americas“.
