Festivals rock out this summer

Consumer interest
in festivals has grown this year, according to the Association of Festival
Organisers.

The association’s
chairman Steve Heap says members are reporting “really good audiences this
summer”.

“Fewer people are
going abroad because of the current economic climate, and are obviously
choosing to spend their free time, and money, on going to festivals,” says
Heap.

“Also I think the
mentality among our audiences is ‘let’s have a good time while we have the
money, as we may not be able to do so next year’,” he adds.

According to Heap,
the news hasn’t been so rosy for some medium-sized start-up rock and pop
festivals this summer.

“The time wasn’t
right for launching this type of event this year,” he adds.
