Size is important

The NEC Group’s LG Arena in Birmingham is to expand its space capacity ahead
of its October 2009 reopening.

An extra 800 metres of space has been utilised by designers,
adding two extra inches to each of the venue’s seats which are being installed
this week. It is also looking at doubling the amount of toilets to provide
further audience comfort.

Director
of Arenas at the NEC Group, Phil Mead, says: “We have listened to our audiences
and believe it is the smallest things that make the biggest difference to a
visitor’s experience. The challenge of providing those important extra few
inches is just one part of our commitment to providing an outstanding audience
experience at the LG Arena.”

The
venue will officially launch with an LG Arena Opening Season which runs from
October 7 until December 31. A line up including punk rockers Green Day and Eighties
legends Depeche Mode are among acts confirmed so far.
