Travel industry exhibition, World Travel Market, is to host a Gay
Marketing masterclass to increase understanding of how the gay and lesbian community want the travel industry to market to them.

The seminar, as part of the exhibition at Excel London on 9 to 12
November, will be chaired by chief executive of gay and lesbian
marketing consultancy Out Now, Ian Johnson.

“The travel industry can struggle when it comes to marketing to the gay
and lesbian community,” says Johnson. “That’s why Out Now is bringing
the opinions of gay travellers into a discussion at World Travel
Market.”

Recent research by communications company Witeck Combs shows that while
many heterosexual travellers are planning to cut back on travel spend,
more than half of gay consumers plan to spend as much on travel this
year as they did in 2008.

“Unlocking the key travel concerns of gay and lesbian customers means
those attending will gather practical information to apply to their own
gay and lesbian marketing strategies,” adds Johnson.
