NEC justifies mains price hike

The National
Exhibition Centre has defended its decision to increase its mains prices by 3.5
per cent saying it is still cheaper than its competitors.

Managing
director of the NEC, Kathryn James,
says: “Although we are making this necessary increase in price, I am proud to
say that we will remain considerably cheaper than our main competitors, by
some 15 per
cent.”

“While some venues have
announced recently that they have frozen their tariffs, they have done so only
after substantial price rises less than a year ago. At The NEC, we are
dedicated to maintaining the best possible level of value for our customers, and
are constantly working to develop new technologies and systems,” James adds.

The increase, as part of
the venue’s annual pricing review, will come into effect from 1 April 2010.
