HIC to benefit from new Ryanair base

Harrogate International Centre has welcomed
Ryanair’s decision to open a base at Leeds Bradford airport in 2010.

The airline will launch 14 new routes and
offer 63 weekly return flights to/from Leeds Bradford as part of an investment
of more than £85 million. The investment will increase Ryanair’s traffic at the
airport to one million passengers a year.

HIC’s head of operations
Simon Kent tells conference-news:
“This expansion will be of enormous benefit to HIC, the local economy and our
clients. International delegates attending our events will be able to fly direct
from several European destinations, and domestic delegates on tight schedules
will be able to consider a day visit to an event when previously they may not
have been able to attend at all.”

HIC is poised to begin the first stage of a major
£13 million redevelopment scheme aimed at drawing more
visitors to the venue.
