£1 billon revamp for Heathrow T2

BAA says its £1 billion
refurbishment of Heathrow Terminal 2 will put the airport at the heart of
international travel.

Expected to cater for 20 million
passengers a year, Terminal 2 will become the new home for Star Alliance
airlines. The refurbishment, part of a £4.2 billion investment across the
airport, will mean a better experience for
passengers.

Mike Brown, Heathrow’s airport chief
operating officer, says: “Passengers travelling through Heathrow will be using
new and extensively refurbished facilities, which provides us with an excellent
platform from which we can provide a better service to our customers than every
before.”

Self-service check-in machines,
fast-bag drops and 15 security search lanes are among the new facilities planned
for passengers departing from Terminal 2, which will use 40 per cent less carbon
than the existing Terminal 2.
