Venues all over the UK are opening their doors next weekend (24-26 July) for the London 2012 Open Weekend.
The Open Weekend is designed to celebrate art, culture, sport and everything that makes up the London 2012 games. Last year around 700,000 people enjoyed 655 events during the Open Weekend.
And one of Northern Ireland’s main venues is getting into the Olympic spirit. “As well as embracing the spirit of the Olympics, it also gives the opportunity to show our venues to the local population,” says event organiser at Ulster Hall, Roisin Whyte. “The Games can be seen as a bit London-centric, but they can bring the entire nation together under its banner.”
As well as offering tours of the Hall itself, there will be children’s activities, instrument making, singing lessons, story telling and various workshops taking place.
