The Old Library and Space 2, part of the Custard Factory group of event venues, will undergo a £100,000 redevelopment in preparation for a new international exhibition this autumn.
Work on the venues’ floor, walls, toilets and electronics, is due to be completed by the start of the new event in October.
Although the exact details of the new event are under wraps, a spokesman for Custard said it will be an international exhibition expected to run for between three to six months, starting in mid-October. Despite feeling the pinch of the recession, the decision to pay for an extensive renovation is hoped to pay for itself through new business wins.
Director of Custard Factory Spaces, Simon Jones, says: “In order to see us through the current recession, it is important for us to keep up with competitors and continue to provide the best event spaces we can. We are confident the venture will pay itself off in the near future.”
