Sheepdrove to invest £2.5m in accommodation

The Sheepdrove Eco Conference Centre is seeking planning approval for a £2.5m development of 38 bedrooms. Due to be built on the centre’s Lambourn site in Berkshire, the accommodation complex will sit adjacent to the current conference centre and is designed with sustainability in mind.

Lack of accommodation at Sheepdrove has driven away some business in the past, admits Sheepdrove’s director of operations, Russell Downing who says that some clients holding events have had to build in extra mileage by staying elsewhere.

“The creation of these bedrooms, due to be finished by early 2011, will allow us to meet the needs of all potential clients,” he says.

The venue’s green and sustainable plans include heat exchanges to ensure any heat generated is utilised, a bio-mass burner and a ‘living wall’.
