Cardiff Convention Bureau is vying for the affections of crooner Tom Jones, following news he is moving back to Wales from California after more than three decades.
The bureau’s Ed Townsend says: “’It’s not unusual’ that we would want Tom to be an ambassador, he would be absolutely brilliant!
“As a true Welshman, we are sure Tom would love to help promote such a fantastic city which competes with so many other places. With Tom on board, Cardiff could take on the rest of the world. There’s a desk waiting for you in our office Tom!”
Sir Tom, 69, has been living since 1974 in a house once owned by screen idol Dean Martin but is longing for the ‘Green Green Grass of Home’, according to reports.
He is touring the UK in autumn and is planning to move back permanently by the end of the year.
