A post-show survey from IMEX reveals that hosted buyers spent an average of 12 hours on the show floor talking to exhibitors and visited an average of 25 stands.
The IMEX survey, released 15 June, noted a 50 per cent rise in the number of long-haul hosted buyers attending this year’s show. Organiser, Regent Events, claims the seventh edition in Frankfurt last month attracted over 3,770 hosted buyers from 60 countries, as part of an overall visitor attendance of 8,902. Just under half of the visitors came from Germany.
Other, as yet unaudited, figures from the trade show claim 3,500 different companies exhibited this year from a record 157 countries.
Other statistics included long-haul buyers accounting for 15 per cent of the hosted buyers. Over a fifth of buyers were from Germany, 12.5 per cent from the UK and six per cent from the USA.
IMEX claims 12.5 per cent of buyers were association meeting planners.
IMEX Chairman, Ray Bloom: “The figures demonstrate the underlying and fundamental strength and optimism that lies at the heart of the global meetings market.”
Regional manager for large venue buyer HelmsBriscoe, USA, Marc Timoteo, says: “Excessive showiness was noticeably and appropriately absent at this no-nonsense event”. He adds: “The focus was on value for money.”
