Multi million pound investment in Cheshire

Chester and Cheshire is pushing hard as a conference destination on the back of a multi-million pound investment in the region’s meetings and events infrastructure over the past year.

Having already played host to the Britain in Bloom annual awards and the UNISON disabled members’ conference, the local conference bureau reports “record levels of association business for the coming months”. Events include: the Garden Centre Association international conference and annual conferences for The Royal Society of Chemistry, the Association of British Riding Schools and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers.

Highlights of the investment include £27m in ‘Doubletree by Hilton’ hotel and an £18m expansion of the Queen Hotel, Chester’s largest hotel.

The latest £10m upgrade of The Chester Grosvenor and Spa includes new conference facilities, while Nunsmere Hall has undergone a £350,000 refurbishment.

Chester, which claims to be the UK’s oldest racecourse. has created a ‘one stop’ conference venue.
