Manchester to host live X Factor

Manchester Central is to be one of the new locations for the X Factor auditions as the show announces a change to its format for 2009.

The venue’s Exchange Hall will be transformed into the X Factor set for the Manchester leg of the new X Factor live auditions, welcoming judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh, plus several X Factor hopefuls and a 1,300 strong live audience.

Commenting on the X Factor coming to Manchester Central, the venue’s chief executive, Lesley Tomlinson says: “Music is a significant part of the venue’s past and with the X Factor live auditions and more concerts planned for December it is set to be a part of our future as well. It is very exciting for us and the whole team is buzzing with excitement!”

Taking place from the 3 – 5 July, live auditions have been introduced as part of a new format for the audition stages of the show.
