imago and its parent organisation Loughborough University, is to host to the 600 strong Japanese Olympic 2012 team.
The Japanese team is due to arrive in the UK in July 2009 for a pre-training camp. As well as taking advantage of the world-class sporting facilities provided by the University, the team will also be using the conference, accommodation, food and leisure facilities offered by imago. It is a combination of requirements that will include the need for some 1,700 room nights in this calendar year alone and generate a further 3,500 room nights each year until the Olympics in July.
Head of sales and marketing at imago Emma Boynton says the news is: “extremely positive, and a hugely proud moment for our team. A full schedule of specific training is already in place including putting many staff members through the Welcome International programme.
“The exchange of cultural knowledge will also be a fantastic opportunity for personal development for each of us. Staff briefings introducing us to Japanese customs and hospitality etiquette are planned and imago’s head of group catering and head chef at Burleigh Court will be visiting Japan in September to learn more about the nutritional needs of our new customers.”
