HKTB launches food and wine year

Hong Kong Tourism Board has held the UK launch of the ‘Hong Kong Food and Wine Year’.

Guests were invited to Kensington Roof Gardens to celebrate the launch with celebrity chef Gary Rhodes and Alvin Leung.

HKTB’s deputy executive director Daisy Lam says: “Hong Kong is known as the ‘Culinary Capital of Asia’. Food has always been one of Hong Kong’s strengths, as well as a compelling reason for international travellers to visit and re-visit Hong Kong.

“This campaign builds on the exemption of wine duty by our Government which presents excellent opportunities for us to highlight the city’s position as one of the leading wine and gourmet centres in the world.”

The Hong Kong Food and Wine Year will run throughout 2009 until March 2010.
