HBAA Forum dates announced

Technological and personal networking headlines two-day event at Hinckley Island

The Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) will hold its Annual Forum 2009, 10–11 September, at the Barcelo Hinckley Island.

The focus for 2009 will be communication techniques within the sector: from maximising online presence to the growing phenomenon of social networking and how it is reflected in the meetings and accommodation arenas.

The Forum provides an opportunity for key figures from agencies, venues and hotels to debate industry trends and best practice. It will also be the backdrop for the association’s annual awards which aim to provide a benchmark for best practice among the agents, hotels and venues. There will be four categories: Training and Development; Promoting Excellence within the Industry; Commitment within the Community; and Best Environmental Practice.

Chairman of the HBAA Steve Ockerby, says: “The HBAA Annual Forum is the voice for the whole association as it brings together representatives from the broad spectrum in which we work: from dedicated training centres, to iconic venues and chain and independent hotels.”

Ockerby tells conference-news he believes “awards are an integral part of driving excellence in the events and meetings sector and companies are always keen to be recognised and rewarded for their professionalism. The HBAA have their own awards which target a very specific sector of the market and helps us to drive professionalism in the hotel booking sector. 2009 is set to see record entries as organisations realise the importance of the hotel booking sector”.
