In response to the popularity of social networking site Twitter, Merlin Events will be hosting its first events industry networking event for organisers and companies who use Twitter as part of their marketing strategy.
Held at the Sea Life London Aquarium on 14 April, the Tweetup is hosted by freelance journalist Mike Fletcher and head of marketing at Merlin Events, which manages the million-pound refurbished aquarium, Peter Kerwood.
The social networking and micro-blogging site, Twitter, has seen increased visibility in recent months with compete.com ranking Twitter as the third largest social network with around six million unique monthly visitors.
Invitations to the event will be sent out using an online system designed by Merlin Events to work with the Twitter website so only guests who have a Twitter profile will be able to attend. An online Twitter directory of the events industry will be launched before the event, something that the organisers hope will ease the search for other twitters
