Temporary structure specialist De Boer has won the contract for The Gathering 2009; a festival designed to unite Scottish clans from around the world.
The festival, which takes place in Edinburgh on 25 and 26 July, will bring together representatives of around 125 clans and family societies for a succession of events including a Highland Games, Scottish Festival and pageant, and a parade along the city’s Royal Mile.
De Boer will provide 128 Pyramide tents designed to house a Clan Village. Five Acropolis pavilions are also being set up for attractions such as whisky tasting and food sampling, and there will be tented VIP hospitality and entertainment areas.
Events sales director John Cochrane says the Brackley-based company has “many years of experience”= working on similar festivals and will be able to use this knowledge to help create a truly memorable occasion”.
The Gathering 2009 is the centrepiece of Homecoming Scotland; a calendar of events marking the country’s contributions to the world and commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of the poet Robert Burns.
