Notts seeks merry ambassadorial men (and women)

Nottinghamshire Convention Bureau is recruiting ambassadors from the business community, particularly those in core clusters such as medicine and bioscience, to spread the word about what’s on offer at the county’s venues.

Helen Sisson, Tourism Leader at Experience Nottinghamshire, the official tourist board that oversees the Nottinghamshire Convention Bureau, says:

“The city and county are ambitious and want to become the first choices for associations and organisations looking for somewhere special to host an event. Nottingham has achieved an excellent sixth place in the UK Conference Market Survey (UKCMS), but we need people’s help to climb to the top of the list.”

One of the first businessmen to get behind the campaign is Sukhi Ghuman, founder and CEO of the Octavian Group, based in Colwick.

“We operate from North America to the Middle East, but if I ever want to host a conference or an exclusive gathering – like the one we have just held with Jaguar at The Curry Lounge restaurant – then Nottinghamshire is definitely my first choice.

The bureau’s new campaign is targeting businesses primarily but also the association conference market.

Those joining the Conference Ambassador Programme will be able to access the bureau’s free services and network with other ambassadors at exclusive events.

With around a dozen ambassadors already keen to sign up, Experience Nottinghamshire is confident of boosting that to over 50 in the medium term.
