The Institute of Travel Management UK and Ireland association announced a name change today.
The new name, Institute of Travel and Meetings, was approved by over 85 per cent of their members at the company AGM last week. The change was proposed by the ITM board, it says, to recognise the closer relationship between business travel and meeting sectors.
“I am delighted to announce the approval by members to change the association’s name, in recognition of where we stand today and where we are headed. Speaking at the AGM, chairwoman Caroline Strachan said: It is important for us to focus on the reasons why we travel and “the meeting” is just such an important part of our forward thinking.”
The association says the change will allow the ITM name, built up over the years, to remain. A new look brand will be introduced over the coming weeks, including a new tag line of ‘Thinking Differently. Acting Positively’.
ITM’s head of sales and marketing, Diane Steed, says: “The old brand was created at a time when ITM was only a travel management focused association. Now that we have different activity streams, including research and training, we thought it was important to ensure the look and feel of our different arms was made clearer.”
