The HBAA has launched a Best Practice Code for billback transactions. The Code is an addendum to the HBAA’s existing Code of Conduct and the result of work carried out between member agents, hotels and venues.
The new code attempts to regulate payment for services provided by venues, to be sent to the client, as opposed to being made at the point of departure. It also lays down a clear understanding of members, partners and clients’ roles and liabilities when handling client funds through any billback transactions.
Members who adopt the new more exacting process and adhere to the code are entitled to an HBAA billback kitemark.
HBAA executive director, Peter Ducker says: “Billback is an important element of the service that agents offer their clients, combining both account audit with the benefits of consolidated billing. We are very aware that handling client funds is an area where best practice is vital, and set ourselves the target of creating a solution that will be welcomed by all stakeholders in the transaction.”
