Over 100 organisations have now signed up to the UK Events Industry Fair Pricing and Practice Charter.
Head of the Events 2012 Development Group, David Sharpe, says: “Reaching 100 signatories to the Charter is a real milestone, and comes at a time when the industry is beginning to gear up for the Games in 2012.
“Planning for events relating to the games has already begun and we are urging everyone to get involved now to ensure they maximise the opportunities that the games provide.”
Signatories to the Charter, which was created by Visit London and Visit Britain with support from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG), undertake that their pricing for the period around the 2012 Olympic Games be both fair and reasonable. In turn, Charter members will be promoted to organisers seeking venues and suppliers via Visit London’s enquiry service and through Visit Britain’s network of overseas offices.
Meanwhile, Mayor Boris Johnson’s director of marketing Dan Ritterband will deliver the keynote address at Events 2012 & Beyond, a conference targeting the UK events industry and taking place on the opening evening of Confex at Earls Court Conference Centre.
And the second edition of the COOL conference on opportunities for UK businesses provided by the Olympic Games takes place at London’s Indigo2, 2-3 June. Details: www.coolconf.com
