Specialist conference hotel group QHotels has made a move to take offensive Christmas jumpers off the streets, with the launch of its 2008/09 ‘Christmas Jumper Amnesty’.
Gaudy Christmas jumpers forced upon the nation’s innocent citizens by taste-challenged aunts and relatives during the festive period can now be handed in at any one of QHotels’ 21 properties.
QHotels are also accepting bobble hats, mittens, socks and ties that breach the norms of decency.
It seems the country’s homeless will be the unlucky ones to get to wear the unwanted Christmas kit. Throughout January, the hotel group will be donating all the surrendered items to Shelter.
“At Christmas we often receive gifts that aren’t quite to our taste, so this year we thought it would be a great idea to encourage people not to throw them away or shove them to the back of the closet, but to donate them to a cause where they can really help people,” says QHotels’ MD Michael Purtill.
