I had no idea what I was letting myself in for when I offered to write a blog for Conference News new website. I only did it because (you know what I’m like) I always have more to say on the topic of conferences and the conference industry than I can possibly fit into my monthy page in the mag.
So here goes. The Wikipedia definition of a blog is as follows: “A blog (a contraction of the term Web log) is a website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video? Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries”.
Well, don’t hold your breath for funky graphics and video, but I’ll do my best to keep you informed and entertained with events from my action-packed galavanting around the conference destinations of Europe and beyond. A good place to start is Serbia, from where I’ve just returned. The event was held in Novi Sad, Serbia’s second city and was organised by one of our star ex-students, Milan Culic and his associate Professor Bojan Zecevic. The theme was Education and Industry Advancing Together (www.eiat-conference.org) and it focused on how Serbia’s tourism and conference industry and that country’s universities could work together to their mutual benefit. Take a look at the website and ask yourself – could it happen here?
